Carter Calkin helps Whittier Poets secure 3-2 victory over Chapman Panthers in Division III matchup

Former Bellevue Christian School standout Carter Calkin contributed to the Whittier Poets’ 3-2 win over the Chapman Panthers in an NCAA Division III baseball contest at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14.

The matchup was held at Hugh B. Mendez Stadium and marked the teams’ second meeting this season. The Poets fell to the Panthers 16-9 in their earlier game on Friday, March 13.

Calkin pitched six innings, issuing three walks and striking out seven batters.

Whittier’s next game is planned for Saturday, March 14, at 2:30 p.m. at Hugh B. Mendez Stadium against the Chapman Panthers.
