On November 7, 2022 the City of North Bend exited Stages 1 and 2 of its Water Conservation Ordinance (WCO) for the remainder of the 2022 calendar
year. With recent rainfall events, the Snoqualmie River is flowing well, and it is likely to continue to flow above minimum in-stream flows for the remainder
of November and December.
This was the third year for the City’s WCO, with Stage 1 beginning each year on August 15. Once the dry heat arrived this summer in Western
Washington, the Snoqualmie Valley experienced record-setting weather conditions with the driest summer on record since 1930 and the warmest since
the 1890s. Stage 2 of the WCO was triggered on October 20, 2022. Stage 3 was not triggered in 2022. The preceding winter had higher-than-usual
snowpack. Otherwise, the river levels would have been lower this past summer and fall.
The City thanks residents for their continued water conservation efforts. Stage 1 of the WCO is scheduled to begin again on August 15, 2023.
