The Meydenbauer Bay Park swimming area remains closed due to high bacteria concentrations in the water. Initially closed by the city on June 23, the swimming area’s bacteria
count remains high, according to the latest test results. Swimming and wading in the water is still inadvisable.
The closure comes at the direction of Public Health – Seattle & King County, which routinely tests water quality at freshwater swimming beaches throughout the area. The
swimming area will be reopened when testing indicates that bacteria levels are low-risk.
Although the beach is closed to swimming, the park is still open. Signs at the park alert visitors to the closure of the swimming area.
Swimming is still open at Bellevue’s other beach parks. Chism, Clyde and Newcastle Beach parks have lifeguards noon-7 p.m., seven days a week.
