Payton Knowles was named the Rawlings West Coast Conference Player of the Week, according to an announcement by the conference office on Apr. 20. He is the first field player and third overall from the Redhawks to receive this weekly honor.

The recognition highlights Knowles’ recent performance during a series where Seattle University took two out of three games against San Diego. The junior recorded nine hits in thirteen at-bats, including six extra base hits and eight runs batted in, leading his team in all three categories. He also drew four walks and achieved a .765 on-base percentage for the weekend.

Head Coach Donny Harrell said, “Knowles had a monster series. It didn’t matter if they threw right or left-handed pitchers.” Harrell continued, “He controlled the strike zone all weekend and did not miss his pitches. Very happy for him, as he takes a lot of pride in his preparation process.”

Knowles joins teammates Travis Farrell and Kale Hammer as recipients of Player of the Week honors this season.

This award reflects individual achievement within Seattle University’s baseball program and adds to a season where multiple players have been recognized for their performances.
