Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to address several policy issues affecting American families and industries in early August 2025.

On August 1, DelBene commented on recent legislation, stating: “Trump’s Big Ugly Bill is already starting to hit families across the country. From food assistance to student loans to Medicaid, key deadlines are coming fast while tax breaks for the wealthy stay permanent.”

The following day, she turned her attention to trade policy and its impact on domestic industry. On August 2, DelBene wrote: “Trump’s tariffs are hitting American manufacturers while foreign automakers are getting a leg up. That’s not how you grow American jobs.”

On August 3, DelBene addressed public health concerns with a message about preventive care: “Vaccines keep our families & communities healthy. I’ll keep working to ensure everyone has access to the preventive care they need to stay safe.”

Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee in Congress. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina at age 61. DelBene graduated from Reed College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1983 and later earned another degree from the University of Washington in 1990.
