Rep. Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. Her posts covered topics relevant to both national policies and local concerns, highlighting her active engagement with constituents.

On April 15, 2025, Rep. DelBene expressed criticism of former President Trump regarding social security. She stated, “Trump promised he wouldn’t cut Social Security but he’s letting Elon Musk dismantle the program & making it harder for you to claim the benefits you paid into.” She offered assistance through her office for those struggling with access to social security benefits.

Later the same day, DelBene reminded her followers of the tax filing deadline. She posted, “Don’t forget! Today is the last day to submit your taxes for 2024. Eligible Washingtonians can file their taxes for free…” This reminder was aimed at helping citizens avoid penalties due to late submissions.

In another post, Rep. DelBene addressed economic concerns related to trade policies. On April 16, 2025, she tweeted, “Trump’s trade war is costing Washington jobs & business.” This was accompanied by a link to further information on the economic impact of trade relations.

Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama, and currently resides in Medina. A graduate of Reed College (1983) and the University of Washington (1990), she has been a pivotal representative since succeeding Jay Inslee.
