Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed several issues on her social media account, including tariffs, data privacy concerns, and medical research funding.

On July 16, 2025, DelBene posted about the economic impact of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump: “Hardworking Americans are expected to pay $2,400 more this year because of Trump’s reckless tariffs. Families can’t afford this economic uncertainty. Congress could stop this chaos at any point, but Republicans refuse to stand up to Trump.”

The following day, July 17, 2025, DelBene expressed concern over government access to sensitive data: “ICE recently got access to taxpayer data at the IRS & now they’re into the Medicaid database. This is an outrageous breach of the very sensitive financial, health, & personal data of millions of people. Americans deserve answers on how the government is exploiting their”

Later that same day, she commented on medical research funding: “Investments in medical research save lives & give families new hope. A former family doctor & I discussed how Trump’s cuts to medical research threaten future medical breakthroughs & the health of everyone.”

Suzan DelBene has served as a member of Congress for Washington’s 1st District since 2012 after replacing Jay Inslee. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
