Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed several topics on her Twitter account between May 1 and May 2, 2026, including support for American workers, criticism of Department of Defense spending during conflict with Iran, and meetings with advocacy groups in Washington D.C.
On May 1, DelBene recognized American workers by posting: “Today we celebrate the power of American workers who build our economy. I’m proud to stand with our workers & fight for them in Congress.”
Later that day, she commented on ongoing military actions involving Iran and criticized a recent decision by the Secretary of Defense: “We are in the middle of a reckless war with Iran. The Secretary of Defense should be trying to end this conflict & protect our service members, but instead he’s focusing on a vanity project. Renaming the Department of Defense is costing American taxpayers $52 million.”

Suzan DelBene has served as a member of Congress since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee and currently resides in Medina. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962, she holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
