Rep. Suzan DelBene, representing Washington’s 1st District, has expressed her concerns through a series of tweets regarding the state of federal food assistance and economic issues under recent policies. Serving since 2012, DelBene has focused her recent social media posts on the impacts of these policies on everyday citizens.

On April 4, 2025, DelBene shared her stance on the potential reduction of SNAP program benefits, stating: “SNAP helps families put healthy food on the table, but Republicans are cutting funding, kicking people off the program or significantly reducing benefits, all so they can pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. I’m fighting to defend Washingtonians’ access to federal food assistance.”

Later the same day, DelBene commented on former President Trump’s trade policies, remarking: “You cannot make this up: Trump is increasing the price of eggs he’s importing to … lower the price of eggs.” The statement highlighted her view on the contradictory nature of the policy outcomes.

On April 5, 2025, DelBene concluded with her critique of the economic implications of Trump’s trade strategies: “Trump promised an economic boom with his trade war but what Americans are getting is a stock slump & soured economy.” Her remarks suggest a dissatisfaction with the current economic trajectory anticipated under the trade policies.
