Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, used her social media platform on October 22, 2025, to address several issues including health care costs, the ongoing government shutdown, and allegations regarding the IRS.
In a post on October 22, DelBene highlighted the availability of health care plan previews for the upcoming year: “You can now preview 2026 plans on @WAplanfinder House Republicans are on vacation while families face skyrocketing costs and cuts to health care. I want to hear from you about the impact of these challenges. Share your story with me at https://t.co/a74Z99q8M0 so we can https://t.co/GUZdDkOrek”.
Later that day, she commented on the status of the U.S. House of Representatives during the government shutdown: “Speaker Johnson has refused to call the House back to session for a month while the government remains shutdown. Republicans are on vacation & have made no efforts to negotiate. Democrats are ready to get to work & deliver for hardworking Americans.”.
In another statement posted in the early morning hours, DelBene addressed concerns about reported plans for political targeting by federal agencies: “The IRS should serve the public, not the President’s political agenda. Trump’s reported plan to target left-leaning groups is outright corruption. I’m demanding an investigation!”.
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina, Washington. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington. DelBene first entered Congress in 2012, succeeding Jay Inslee as representative for Washington’s 1st district.
