Rep. Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, recently posted several messages on her official Twitter account addressing national policy issues and sharing condolences for a former colleague.
On April 10, 2026, DelBene criticized the president’s priorities, stating, “This is not going to lower your health care bills, rent, or gas prices. The president isn’t focused on what really matters.”
Later that day, she expressed sympathy over the death of a former congressional colleague. On April 10, 2026, she wrote: “Saddened to hear of the passing of my former colleague Eliot Engel. He was a dedicated public servant, strong defender of human rights abroad, & tireless advocate for the people of New York. My thoughts & prayers are with his family & community.”
On April 13, 2026, DelBene commented on rising fuel costs in Washington state and linked them to foreign policy decisions: “Trump’s war in Iran is hurting Washingtonians. Across our community, gas now costs families over $5 per gallon.”
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since replacing Jay Inslee in 2012 and has been active in both local and national policy discussions. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, DelBene graduated from Reed College in 1983 and from the University of Washington in 1990.
