Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets criticizing former President Donald Trump’s economic policies and highlighting her recent engagement with local leaders in the Puget Sound region.

On August 12, 2025, DelBene stated, “Trump’s megabill is the biggest transfer of wealth to the ultra-rich from working families in history.” The following day, she addressed the impact of tariffs on her home state, writing on August 13, 2025: “Trump’s tariffs are hurting Washington businesses & raising prices for families. The president clearly doesn’t have a plan & Congress needs to stand up for stable economic policy.”

In a separate post on August 13, 2025, DelBene highlighted her participation in a regional event: “Great to join local leaders at the Sound Cities Association lunch to discuss how we can work together to strengthen communities across the Puget Sound region. I appreciate their partnership in building a stronger, more connected region for everyone.”

Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, DelBene earned degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
