Rep. Suzan DelBene, a current member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has recently shared her insights and activities on social media regarding several pressing political and economic issues.

On May 5, 2025, DelBene discussed her recent conversation with colleagues “Great to chat with @RepVeasey & @RepGregLandsman about the Trump administration, tariffs, & the upcoming Republican budget that’s going to cut programs like Medicaid.” She announced an upcoming episode where these topics will be further explored.

In another post on May 6, she addressed the consequences of previous policies stating that “Washington is already seeing the impact of Trump’s trade war with higher prices for consumers & higher costs for manufacturers to build products.” She warned about potential job threats across various sectors in the region.

Later on May 6, DelBene met with business leaders at national chambers of commerce. She noted her discussions about international trade relations by tweeting “Spoke with the @SeattleChamber & Portland Metro Chamber in DC today about the importance of the Canada-U.S. trade relationship at the @CanEmbUSA.” She reaffirmed her commitment to strong economic ties between Canada and the United States while opposing disruptive tariff measures from former administrations.

Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and now resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
