Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, recently addressed health care and trade issues in a series of posts on her official account.
On September 16, DelBene shared details of a meeting with local health organizations: “Appreciated meeting with @EvergreenHosp Monroe, @SkagitHealth, & @WAHospitals to discuss health care priorities in Snohomish County & across our region, including access, affordability, & support for rural communities.”
The following day, she criticized House Republicans’ stance on trade policy under former President Donald Trump: “House Republicans once again gave up their constitutional role over trade to Trump, capitulating to the largest tax hike on Americans in history. His tariffs have slowed growth, cost jobs, & sunk consumer confidence, yet Republicans are too afraid to stand up to him.” This statement was posted on September 17.
Later that same day, DelBene commented on the potential impact of Republican-led health care cuts: “Everyone—regardless of how they get their coverage—will pay the cost of Republicans’ health care cuts. When more people are uninsured, ERs fill up, premiums increase, & facilities close.”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington. After replacing Jay Inslee in Congress in 2012, she has focused her legislative efforts on issues affecting her constituents in Washington’s 1st District.
