Rep. Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has recently used her social media platform to address federal spending, community engagement, and the potential impacts of proposed legislation on health insurance in Washington state.
On August 4, DelBene criticized the DOGE program for its fiscal inefficiency, stating “DOGE was supposed to save money, but instead it wasted nearly $22 billion in taxpayer dollars. That could’ve paid for school lunches, Medicaid, & nutrition assistance for millions.”
The following day, she highlighted her involvement with local organizations: “It was a pleasure to join the Northshore Rotary Club to hear about community priorities & discuss how we can work together to address them.” (August 5).
On August 6, DelBene addressed concerns regarding proposed federal legislation and its effect on healthcare costs in Washington state: “Trump’s megabill is going to increase health insurance premiums by 65% next year for WA Health Benefits Exchange enrollees who received enhanced federal subsidies. This will result in 80,000 Washingtonians losing their coverage. I’m in Bothell to highlight what this means…”
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since succeeding Jay Inslee in 2012. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene graduated from Reed College with a Bachelor of Science degree and later attended the University of Washington.
