Seattle University baseball will begin a series against the University of San Diego on April 17, followed by a game against San Diego State on April 20. The games will take place in San Diego, California.
The Redhawks are coming off a three-game sweep of Loyola Marymount at Bannerwood Park, which marked their first conference series sweep since 2019. This recent success highlights an upswing for the team as they continue West Coast Conference play.
The upcoming matchups include three games at Fowler Park against the Toreros from April 17 to April 19, with probable starters Travis Farrell, Kale Hammer, and Micah Hagler. The fourth game is scheduled for Tony Gwynn Stadium versus the Aztecs on April 20. Broadcasts will be available on ESPN+ for the first three games.
This series marks only the second all-time meeting between Seattle U and San Diego; their previous encounter was in 2020 with San Diego taking that win. Against San Diego State, Seattle U has played four times but has yet to secure a victory in the series.
Several players have contributed to Seattle U’s recent strong performance. Travis Farrell leads the team with 51 strikeouts this season and ranks fifth in the conference. Ryder Manale hit his first two collegiate home runs during last weekend’s series and led with six runs batted in. Blake Smith picked up two wins in relief appearances last weekend, bringing his career total to thirteen—tying him for fifth all-time in program history for career wins. Kale Hammer extended his streak of quality starts to four and currently leads the team with an earned run average of 3.86.
After an eight-game homestand, Seattle U returns to road play where they have a record of four wins and twelve losses away from Bannerwood Park this season but are averaging slightly more runs per game than at home.
