SNOQUALMIE VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT: SVSD Staff are Raising Funds for Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank

Foodbank

Snoqualmie Valley School issued the following announcement.

To supplement the weekday “Grab and Go” break/lunch meals that our district offered during the school closure, two community organizations partnered to cover students’ other nutritional needs -- Snoqualmie Valley Food Bank (offered family dinners) and the Helping Hands Ministry’s Weekend Backpack Program (provided weekend nutrition for students). We are grateful for their volunteer efforts to ensure all students have food they need to grow and thrive.

Now, as our District’s food service operations wind down for summer break (last delivery is Thursday, June 25), the Food Bank, with Helping Hands, is preparing to launch its Summer Meals Program for Kids.  Starting June 26 through August 28 – 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays – they will offer school-aged children a weekly supply of breakfast/lunch/snack items “to-go.”  Read the flyer for details and how to register – also in Spanish.

As a way to give back, the Snoqualmie Valley School District and Snoqualmie Valley Education Association have launched a Go Fund Me campaign this week – to run through June.  We quickly reached our initial goal of raising $10,000 (thanks in part to a $5,000 donation from SVEA), so have upped the goal to $20,000. Due to COVID-19, the needs have grown significantly in our community.  Thank you for your support of the Food Bank’s vital service and resources to help fight hunger in our community.
