City of Sammamish issued the following announcement on June 26.
Lita Hachey, Deputy City Clerk, will be promoted to City Clerk effective July 1, 2020. Hachey will be taking over the role from Melonie Anderson, who is retiring on June 30, 2020, after 20 years of serving the City of Sammamish.
The City Clerk’s Office is often the primary point of contact for the residents of Sammamish seeking information and action for City Hall or City Council. The City Clerk’s office is responsible for informing the public of the City Council’s legislative actions and ensuring transparency in the Council and City staff by preserving and providing access to the City’s official records. From requesting property records to City documents, the City Clerk’s Office is the first stop for Sammamish residents seeking information from City Hall.
“I place a high value in transparency and customer service,” said Hachey. “The City Clerk’s Office is at the heart of the City and reflects the high standards the City Council wishes to maintain. As City Clerk, I will ensure it remains an efficient and highly organized part of City Hall.”
Hachey has worked at the City of Sammamish for the past 17 years, starting out in Public Works for eight years before moving to the City Clerk’s Office. She has also called Sammamish “home” for nearly 30 years.
“The City of Sammamish is so fortunate to have Lita Hachey in place to take over the role of City Clerk. Lita and her team will continue to play a pivotal role here in City Hall. They embody the spirit of public service and local government transparency,” said City Manager Dave Rudat.
Rudat continued, “I’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Melonie Anderson for her 20 years of service to the City of Sammamish. She has taken this City a long way; from the early days of operating out of a tiny storefront office in the Safeway lot, her efforts to establish the City Clerk’s Office have been tireless and exemplary. We will miss her wisdom, kindness, and humor; and are grateful for the mentorship she provided to her team, ensuring a smooth and seamless transition.”
