Dow Constantine, the King County executive, has announced that he recently sent his fifth COVID-19 supplemental budget to the King County Council.

The COVID-19 supplemental budget will total $41.6 million in emergency funds that will help the health and economic recovery of King County. The funds will also help combat the predicted surge in COVID-19 during this year's flu season.

$16 million of the funds will help medical facilities and healthcare providers to purchase PPE for both immediate and ongoing distribution.

In retrospect, Constantine also submitted emergency supplemental budgets in March, May, June, and September. According to reports, Constantine's previous submissions were later passed by the King County Council.

“Even as the King County Council considers my two-year budget proposal, we continue our comprehensive response to the COVID-19 crisis," said Executive Constantine in a press release. "This supplemental budget increases our equipment and testing and helps our most vulnerable residents stay safe. We also begin preparing for the safe and equitable distribution of a vaccine when it becomes available.”
