CITY OF ISSAQUAH: Nominations Now Open: Outstanding Community Members

Awards

City of Issaquah issued the following announcement.

Nominations are now open for two prestigious awards:

  • Issaquah Hall of Fame – The City’s top honor for making a lasting contribution to the community.
  • 2020 Hero Award – A one-time award for a person or group that has provided exceptional support to our community during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The awards will be presented to recipients at the annual Issaquah Community Awards, sponsored by the Greater Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, in mid-January 2021.

Hall of Fame 

Each year, the Mayor and City Council President select a person to induct for making a lasting difference in our community.

The annual award recognizes the efforts of exemplary individuals with records of inspiration, leadership and service. Past recipients include Rowan Hinds, Joe Forkner, Fred Butler, David Kappler, Francis Walton and Dan Anderson.

Nomination criteria include:

  • Inspiration
  • Service
  • Leadership
  • Civic-mindedness
  • Activity in drawing positive attention to the community
  • Fundraising efforts for the public good
  • Length of service to the community
Nominate community members online by 5 p.m. Dec. 23, 2020. 

2020 Hero Award

Special this year, the City will also honor community heroes who recognized a need in our community during the COVID-19 pandemic – and answered the call for help. 

While the Mayor and City Council President will select one person or group for this award, the City plans to celebrate and share several stories of local heroes.

Ideas of people to nominate:

  • Healthcare workers
  • Essential workers
  • Helpful neighbors
  • Local business owners
  • Volunteers
Nominate community members online by 5 p.m. Dec. 23, 2020.
