East King County opened its first free high-volume COVID-19 test site on Dec. 15 at Bellevue College.

The new site helps to expand the region's ability to contain surging COVID-19 cases, King County and college officials said in a release

"This holiday season, the greatest gift we can give our friends and loved ones — and ourselves — is good health and peace of mind," King County Executive Dow Constantine said in the release. "We must remain vigilant to bring this virus under control and bring our community and economy back stronger than ever."

This site will complement existing free-test locations in Renton, Auburn, Tukwila, Federal Way, Des Moines and Enumclaw.

COVID-19 testing is free and is open to anyone, regardless of insurance or immigration status.

"As cases continue to spike in our state and all across America, expanding access to COVID-19 testing is critical to ensuring the health of our diverse community," Bellevue College interim President Gary Locke said in the release.

The new test site is at Bellevue College, 2645 145th Ave. SE, Bellevue. The site also has a drive-thru and limited walk-up testing.

Testing is available Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Those seeking a test can register online to make an appointment.
