CITY OF SAMMAMISH: College or Trade School Scholarship for Sammamish Students

City of Sammamish issued the following announcement.

The City of Sammamish has the opportunity to nominate one outstanding Sammamish student for a scholarship through the AWC Center for Quality Communities, a 501(c)3 organization sponsored by the Associations of Washington Cities. The AWC Center for Quality Communities promotes civic engagement and seeks to provide the public a better understanding of the role cities and towns play in Washington. They offer a Quality Communities Scholarship program and will provide up to six $1,500 scholarships in 2021 as an investment into young leaders who are the future of our communities.

As a member of AWC, the City of Sammamish is eligible to nominate one current 12th grade Sammamish student who will be attending a college or trade school in fall 2021. This nominated student will then go on to compete for a scholarship awarded by AWC in May 2021. To be included in the City of Sammamish’s selection process, applications are due by Monday, February 1, 2021.

Eligibility

  • To be eligible for consideration, the applicant must reside, work, go to school, or perform some legitimate activity within the Sammamish city limits
  • The applicant must be currently in 12th grade, or in a program equivalent to the grade listed above and plan to attend college or a trade school in fall 2021
  • The applicant must submit a completed application by the deadline listed below

To Apply

Please complete the following steps to be considered for the Quality Communities Scholarship program.

  1. Complete the required application at www.cfqc.org.
  2. Include a recommendation letter and essay with your completed application.
  3. Email (PDFs) to city by Monday, February 1 at 5:00pm.
All applications must be received no later than Monday, February 1, 2021 at 5:00pm PST.

Your application will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of City Staff and you will be notified by mail no later than March 8 of the committee’s final recommendation. The chosen applicant will be recommended by the City to the AWC Scholarship Committee for final review and selection amongst the top Washington-state students.
