Nopickup

City of Kirkland recently issued the following announcement.

  • Open to Kirkland residents.
  • Please pack your items so they can be unloaded quickly.
  • Wear a face mask.
  • Do not attend if you are feeling unwell, or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
Please refer to King County Public Health’s COVID-19 page at kingcounty.gov/covid for information about guidelines and recommendations.

Thank you for helping keep event staff safe.

Shredding

Free confidential paper shredding. Limit four file-size boxes or equivalent (e.g. paper grocery bag) per car. Staples OK, no binder clips.

Shred Only What You Need

The WA Attorney General's office recommends shredding materials with Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and financial information, such as:

  • Account numbers
  • Birth dates
  • Passwords and PINs
  • Signatures
  • Social Security numbers
For the maximum environmental benefit, shred only the portion of the paper that contains PII. Tear off the part that contains PII for shredding, and recycle the remainder. Shredding shortens the paper fibers, so shredded material can't be recycled into many things.

Why Shred at an Event?

Shredding at an event allows the paper to be recycled and used at least once more. Material shredded at home must be thrown away. Home shredding is not accepted in recycling or compost.
