Welcome, Interim City Manager Bob Larson

Join us in welcoming our new Interim City Manager, Bob Larson! Mr.  Larson began his role with the City on May 16, after the departure of  longtime City Manager Rob Wyman on May 13. In conjunction with his team  at GMP Consultants, Mr. Larson will be assisting with the search for  Newcastle’s permanent city manager.

“I’m delighted to have this opportunity to serve Newcastle as its City  Manager,” said Mr. Larson. “In my interactions with Mayor Newing,  councilmembers, and staff, their passion for representing and serving  the community is clearly evident.”

Mr. Larson is an experienced municipal manager who has served in senior  management positions and in local government since 1986. He recently  retired from the City of Gig Harbor, where he served as City  Administrator. Prior to his work there, he served for 15 years with the  City of Snoqualmie as City Administrator. He also has city management  experience in Minnesota, where he provided management expertise with two  communities. Mr. Larson is a former Washington City Manager Association  President, and he also served on the Board of Directors for the  Association of Washington Cities (AWC), Sound Cities Association (SCA)  and NORCOM. He is known and well respected within municipal government  for his leadership and management qualities. Mr. Larson has a strong  background in municipal finance, capital programs development, creating  community partnerships, economic development, customer service  improvements, and organizational development. He has a Bachelor of  Science Degree in Urban & Regional Planning and a Master’s in Urban  & Regional Planning. He is an avid skier, cyclist, and hiker.
