Rep. Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, addressed issues affecting her community and the broader public in a series of posts on social media from September 21 to September 22, 2025.
On September 21, DelBene highlighted the economic impact of international relations on local businesses. She wrote, “When Canadians stop visiting WA because of Trump’s tariffs & antagonism, local shops, restaurants & workers feel it. Our communities depend on strong cross-border travel.” The congresswoman emphasized the importance of maintaining robust cross-border connections for the prosperity of Washington state communities.
Later that day, DelBene commented on political violence in the United States. In her post dated September 21, she stated, “Political violence has no place in our democracy. We must come together—regardless of party—to condemn it.” This message comes amid ongoing national conversations about political rhetoric and its consequences.
On September 22, DelBene drew attention to environmental conservation efforts in her region by promoting Fat Bear Week. She posted, “Fat Bear Week kicks off Sept. 23. We’re lucky to have incredible wildlife in the Pacific Northwest & it’s important to keep protecting these habitats for generations to come. Vote here: https://t.co/1J0qCZQa4w.”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She is an alumna of Reed College and the University of Washington.
