Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st congressional district since 2012, posted a series of messages on social media in early April 2026 addressing local and global issues affecting her constituents.
On April 5, DelBene extended holiday greetings to her followers: “Wishing a happy & joyful Easter to everyone celebrating in WA & around the world!”
The following day, she highlighted the economic challenges facing Washington farmers as a result of national and international events. On April 6, DelBene wrote: “Hardworking Washington farmers have already taken the brunt of the president’s tariffs & are now paying more for fuel for their trucks & tractors because of the war in Iran.”
Later that same day, DelBene addressed the impact of tariffs on small businesses. She stated: “Small businesses are paying the price for tariffs. I held a roundtable with local Shopify merchants in Bellevue to learn how these policies are impacting them.”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington. Since succeeding Jay Inslee in Congress over a decade ago, she has focused on representing issues pertinent to her district’s residents and economy.
