Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st District in the U.S. Congress since 2012, recently addressed several issues on her official Twitter account, including health care costs, childhood vaccine policy changes, and appreciation for congressional interns.
On January 9, 2026, DelBene commented on health care costs and recent legislative action: “Health care costs are skyrocketing because of the Republican health care crisis. The House passed a Democrat-led bill this week to lower premiums by extending Affordable Care Act tax credits. The Senate must take it up immediately.”
In another post dated January 10, 2026, DelBene criticized proposed changes to childhood vaccine schedules: “Slashing the childhood vaccine schedule from 17 to 11—without public comment or expert review—is reckless. Parents deserve science-based decisions, not dangerous shortcuts. Alongside @RepKimSchrier & House Democrats, I’m demanding HHS restore childhood vaccine protections.”
Later that same day, she expressed gratitude toward her office’s fall interns: “So grateful for our fall interns! You brought energy, curiosity, & a real commitment to serving WA-01. Your hard work made a difference for our team & our community.”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina at age 61. She earned degrees from Reed College in 1983 and the University of Washington in 1990. DelBene succeeded Jay Inslee as representative of Washington’s 1st district.
