Rep. Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, recently addressed several policy concerns in a series of posts on her official social media account.
On July 23, 2025, DelBene criticized health insurance bureaucracy, stating: “Patients & their families are fed up with the health insurance red tape.
It delays care & puts lives at risk. I’m fighting to fix our system so people can get the care they need, when they need it.”
Later that day, she commented on economic issues related to tariffs: “Trump’s tariffs are driving up costs & slowing economic growth. Families are feeling the squeeze. We need to focus on lowering costs & supporting hardworking families, not make things worse.”
On July 24, 2025, DelBene addressed proposed cuts to public broadcasting: “PBS, NPR, & local broadcast stations are trusted news sources that keep families informed during emergencies & natural disasters. Trump’s cuts will endanger communities & put lives at risk.”
DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since replacing Jay Inslee in 2012 and is known for her advocacy on healthcare and economic issues. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
