Representative Suzan DelBene, currently serving Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, has been actively voicing her concerns and initiatives on social media. On June 4, 2025, she addressed issues impacting seniors, health coverage due to legislative decisions, and labor rights.

On June 4th, DelBene highlighted a significant issue faced by seniors: “Many seniors are forced to spend days or weeks arguing with their insurer to get routine procedures approved. The culprit is called prior authorization.” She announced her bipartisan bill aimed at streamlining this process to ensure timely healthcare for seniors. “My strongly bipartisan bill would streamline this outdated practice & help get seniors the care they deserve when they need”.

Later that day, she reacted to a report from the Congressional Budget Office regarding potential consequences of a Republican budget proposal: “BREAKING: the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said that 16 million Americans will lose health coverage because of the Republican budget bill. Why? Just so they can give the wealthy another massive tax break.” Her comments reflect concerns about economic disparities and access to health services.

The following day, June 5th, DelBene shared her commitment to workers’ rights after meeting with members of IAM District 751: “Great to meet with Machinists from IAM District 751 to discuss ways we can better support workers & promote fair labor practices.” She reaffirmed her dedication by stating: “I’ll keep fighting to protect the rights & dignity of every worker.”

Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and has resided in Medina since completing her education at Reed College and the University of Washington.
