Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, addressed several key issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account in early January 2026.
On January 7, DelBene commented on a recent incident involving federal authorities, stating: “The deadly shooting by ICE in Minneapolis is unconscionable. There must be a thorough investigation and accountability. Our communities need to be safe.”
The following day, she recognized the career of a fellow legislator: “Today, I join so many in thanking Rep. Steny Hoyer for his extraordinary leadership & decades of service to our nation. From advancing the ACA to mentoring generations of Members, his impact will last far beyond his final term. I wish him & his family well in this next chapter.” This message highlighted Rep. Hoyer’s long-standing influence within Congress and his role in advancing significant legislation such as the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
Later that same day, DelBene announced her stance on healthcare policy: “I will be voting YES to extend the enhanced ACA tax credits!”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina at age 61. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington. Since replacing Jay Inslee in Congress over a decade ago, she has consistently advocated for issues related to public safety and healthcare reform.
