U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene, who has served Washington’s 1st District in Congress since 2012, recently addressed a range of topics in a series of posts on her social media account.
On May 12, DelBene recognized the contributions of healthcare professionals by stating, “Happy National Nurses Week! Thank you to our nurses in Washington & across the country for everything you do to take care of our communities.”
The following day, she commented on economic challenges facing American families: “Millions of families are racking up credit card debt to cover skyrocketing costs, but the White House doesn’t seem to care.” This statement comes amid ongoing discussions about inflation and household financial strain.
On May 14, DelBene highlighted mental health awareness efforts, writing, “Mental health is just as important as physical health. This Mental Health Awareness Month let’s continue to reduce the stigma & make sure everyone gets the support they need. Call/text 988 if you or someone you know needs help.”
DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington. Since replacing Jay Inslee in Congress in 2012, DelBene has been an advocate for issues ranging from healthcare and mental health to economic policy.
