Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, recently posted a series of messages on her social media account addressing small businesses, World AIDS Day, and changes to Medicare coverage reviews.
On November 29, 2025, DelBene highlighted the importance of local commerce in her district: “Today is all about supporting the backbone of our communities — small businesses!
From local shops to family-run cafes, every purchase makes a difference. Let’s shop small & celebrate the people who make WA thrive!”
On December 1, 2025, she marked World AIDS Day by stating: “On World AIDS Day, we honor those affected by HIV/AIDS, remember lives lost, & reaffirm our commitment to prevention, treatment, & ending the stigma.”
The following day, December 2, DelBene addressed upcoming changes in Medicare review processes involving artificial intelligence: “Beginning in January, private companies will start using AI to review certain health care services, potentially delaying or denying Medicare beneficiaries from getting the care they’ve earned.
I introduced legislation to stop this program. Health decisions should be made between”
Suzan DelBene succeeded Jay Inslee as representative for Washington’s 1st congressional district in 2012 and has held the position since then. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College (1983) and the University of Washington (1990).
