Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congress member representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has shared her perspectives on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. Born in Selma, Alabama, and currently residing in Medina, DelBene has served as a congressional representative after replacing Jay Inslee in 2012. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.

On June 3, 2025, DelBene criticized former President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. “Doubling down on tariffs won’t change the fact Trump keeps breaking his promise to lower prices on Day 1,” she stated. She further argued that these tariffs would increase costs associated with manufacturing and construction.

In another tweet posted on June 4, 2025, DelBene highlighted the financial burden of child care in Washington state. “Child care in WA can cost a single parent nearly half of their monthly income,” she noted. She advocated for more accessible and affordable child care options and mentioned the potential benefits of an expanded Child Tax Credit.

Later that day, DelBene celebrated LGBTQ+ Pride Month with an acknowledgment of progress made by the community while calling for continued efforts towards equality. “Happy Pride!” she tweeted, emphasizing both celebration and advocacy.
