Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a series of issues on her social media account this week, including a reported death threat against a colleague, an upcoming virtual town hall, and affordable housing initiatives.
On September 26, DelBene wrote about threats faced by fellow Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal: “My colleague @RepJayapal, who champions nonviolent protest & advocacy, received a death threat from an elected official. This is appalling & dangerous. People with different political views are not our enemies, & we cannot let calls for violence become the norm.”
The following day, she invited constituents to participate in an online event: “Join me for a virtual town hall this Monday, Sept. 29 at 6 PM PT with @WAplanfinder CEO Ingrid Ulrey. We’ll talk about the looming government shutdown, what it means for health care, & what I’m doing to fight for you. Register: https://t.co/0HTOmsxB8g” (posted September 27).
Later that same day, DelBene highlighted her visit to an affordable housing project: “Great to tour the BRIDGE Housing Spring District Project, built with support from the Low Income Housing Tax Credit. LIHTC is one of our best tools to create affordable housing, & I’ll keep working to ensure families have a safe, stable place to call home.” (September 27).
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since replacing Jay Inslee in 2012 and continues to serve in Congress as of 2025. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and resides in Medina. DelBene graduated from Reed College and later earned another degree from the University of Washington.
