Rep. Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing federal budget priorities, rising gas prices, and Capitol security commemorations.
On March 10, 2026, DelBene criticized Republican fiscal policy in a post stating, “Thanks to Republicans’ budget, the Congressional Budget Office estimates funds for Medicare Part A will run out 12 years earlier than expected. Republicans chose to fund tax cuts for billionaires over health care for millions of Americans.”
Later that day, she commented on fuel costs in Washington state following recent geopolitical developments: “Trump’s war with Iran is raising costs. In Washington, gas prices have skyrocketed more than 25 cents in a week, with families paying $4.63 per gallon on average.” This statement references recent tensions between the United States and Iran and their impact on domestic energy prices.
On March 11, DelBene addressed actions taken regarding recognition of law enforcement at the U.S. Capitol: “For months Speaker Johnson blocked the installation of a plaque to commemorate the bravery of Capitol Police & law enforcement who defended the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. I’m glad the plaque was finally installed & I will always push back on efforts to rewrite history.”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
