Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, recently shared her views and activities through a series of tweets. These posts cover topics ranging from political priorities to personal anecdotes and community engagement.

On May 8, 2025, DelBene expressed her concerns regarding the priorities of House Republicans. She stated, “Families are struggling. The economy is shrinking. Meanwhile, what was the #1 priority for House Republicans this week? Changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico.” This tweet highlights her criticism of what she perceives as misplaced legislative focus amidst economic challenges.

Later that day, DelBene shared a light-hearted moment from a podcast episode by the New Democrat Coalition. She noted two facts about herself and fellow Representative Marc Veasey: “Check out this clip from the @NewDemCoalition podcast & you’ll learn two things: 1. I was a high school football referee 2. @RepVeasey can hold a grudge “ This tweet provides insight into her past experiences and camaraderie with colleagues.

In another post on May 8, DelBene discussed her participation in an event organized by MomsRising ahead of Mother’s Day. She wrote, “Great to join @momsrising, parents, & kids today ahead of Mother’s Day & talk about how we can better support moms.” This reflects her ongoing commitment to supporting families and mothers through legislative and community efforts.

Suzan DelBene has been serving in Congress since succeeding Jay Inslee in 2012. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962, she currently resides in Medina and holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
