Representative Suzan DelBene, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st District since 2012, recently addressed several issues through her social media platform. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, DelBene has a long-standing commitment to her constituents and policy initiatives.

On May 20, 2025, Rep. DelBene expressed concern over Republican actions regarding tax legislation. She stated that “Republicans blocked my effort to support parents with children by bringing back the expanded Child Tax Credit & refused to protect Americans from higher prices caused by Trump’s tariffs in their tax legislation.” She mentioned joining Representative Schneider to criticize what she described as a harmful agenda.

Later on the same day, DelBene criticized House Republicans’ fiscal policies. She noted that “House Republicans talk about wanting to rein in government spending, but their budget adds $5 trillion to the debt over the next 10 years to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy.” She argued that families should not bear the financial burden of such policies.

In another post on May 20, 2025, DelBene discussed disaster preparedness efforts. She highlighted her participation in a committee meeting stating that “The next natural disaster shouldn’t become the next national tragedy.” Her bipartisan bill aims to improve community readiness for landslides and other disasters through funding critical preparedness measures.

Suzan DelBene graduated from Reed College with a BS degree in 1983 and later obtained another degree from the University of Washington in 1990.
