Rep. Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, recently shared her views on several pressing issues through social media posts. Born in Selma, Alabama, in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, DelBene has been vocal about topics ranging from national security to economic concerns.

On February 3, 2025, Rep. DelBene expressed concern over Elon Musk’s involvement with the federal payment system that handles Social Security checks, tax refunds, and Medicare benefits. She stated: “When you find out Elon Musk (an unelected citizen with multiple business interests) forced his way into the federal payment system that processes Social Security checks, tax refunds, & Medicare benefits. This is incredibly dangerous & puts every Americans’ personal data at risk.”

Later that day, she addressed the impact of former President Trump’s trade policies on consumer prices: “Trump’s trade war is going to raise prices at the grocery store, the gas pump, & the pharmacy counter.” This tweet highlighted her concerns about how these policies could affect everyday expenses for American citizens.

In another post made on February 3rd as well, Rep. DelBene showed appreciation for local community efforts during her visit to Renewal Food Bank in Bellevue: “Grateful to the folks at Renewal Food Bank in Bellevue who showed me how they are supporting & feeding our community.” Her visit underscores her commitment to addressing food insecurity and supporting community initiatives.
