Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has been vocal on social media regarding recent legislative developments. Her comments focus on healthcare and the political climate in Washington D.C.
On July 2, 2025, DelBene expressed concerns about the potential impact of proposed cuts in President Trump’s megabill. She stated that “The Affordable Care Act & Medicaid helped lower WA’s uninsured rate to one of the lowest in the nation.” DelBene warned that these cuts could result in hundreds of thousands of Washingtonians losing health coverage and an increase in healthcare costs for others.
In another post made moments later, she emphasized her active opposition to the bill by stating, “I’m in DC fighting against this bill & the harm it will do to families, kids, & seniors in our state!”
On July 3, 2025, DelBene highlighted a significant event where House Leader Hakeem Jeffries delivered a record-breaking floor speech exceeding eight hours. She noted that “Leader @RepJeffries breaks the record for the longest floor speech in House history (8+ hours) as he stands up against Trump’s Big Ugly Bill!” According to DelBene, Democrats are actively opposing what she describes as Republicans’ attempt to push through this “dangerous megabill.”
Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
