Rep. Suzan DelBene, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has used her social media platform to address recent economic and environmental issues affecting her state.
On December 13, 2025, DelBene criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies, stating in a tweet: “Trump’s tariffs are causing chaos & constant uncertainty, meaning fewer tourists from Canada supporting WA businesses. The president promised a strong economy, but he’s directly hurting our state.”
Later that day, she provided an update after visiting flood-affected areas in Snohomish County: “Today I visited parts of Snohomish County impacted by recent flooding with @SnoRegionalFire & was briefed by FEMA to see how the atmospheric river has devastated communities across WA. Grateful for our first responders. I’ll keep pushing to get families the federal support they” (December 13, 2025).
In another post on December 14, DelBene questioned the response to rising living costs: “What is Trump’s answer to the affordability crisis? Ration.”
Suzan DelBene succeeded Jay Inslee in Congress and has been an advocate for her constituents since taking office in 2012. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, she holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
