Rep. Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has recently taken to social media to voice concerns over federal health and privacy issues, as well as recent judicial actions on reproductive healthcare.
On May 3, 2026, DelBene criticized the Trump administration for mishandling sensitive information: “The Trump administration has been repeatedly careless with Americans’ private data. In the latest leak, the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services recklessly exposed the Social Security numbers of health care providers. This is completely unacceptable – Americans shouldn’t”.
A day later, on May 4, DelBene commented on a Supreme Court decision regarding access to mifepristone: “BREAKING: SCOTUS has temporarily restored access to mifepristone after a lower court blocked mail access to the drug on Friday. This order is only for a week as the case proceeds. Mifepristone is safe & effective. We must continue standing up for women & science & fight back”.
Later that same day, she again criticized the Trump administration’s approach to public health policy: “The Trump administration is delaying science-backed vaccinations for babies, which could lead to more infections, cause unnecessary harm, & increase costs for medical care. That’s why I’ve led calls to remove the anti-vaxx members of the vaccine advisory committee & put”.
Suzan DelBene replaced Jay Inslee in Congress in 2012 and has served continuously since then. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina at age 61. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College (BS, 1983) and the University of Washington (1990).
