Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, criticized the Trump administration’s handling of economic and political issues in a series of tweets on April 15, 2026.
In one post, DelBene addressed rising gas prices and accused the administration of prioritizing oil company profits over American families: “Families are paying more for gas across the country, & the Trump administration does not care what this war is costing you. Instead, they’re focused on profits for oil companies.” (April 15, 2026).
Later that day, she commented on tax policy and economic challenges stemming from tariffs and conflict abroad: “More broken promises: Trump & Republicans promised $1,000 in tax refunds but families are getting just a third of that. With prices going up from tariffs & the War in Iran, the average American has less money in their pocket now than last year, while the wealthiest got massive” (April 15, 2026).
In a third tweet posted that evening, DelBene criticized efforts to minimize or erase the events of January 6 and called for accountability: “The president’s efforts to erase the horrible crimes committed on January 6 are an insult to our brave law enforcement officers. The Justice Department should be working for the American people & protecting our democracy, not providing legal cover to criminals.” (April 15, 2026).
Suzan DelBene succeeded Jay Inslee as representative for Washington’s 1st district in 2012 and was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962. She resides in Medina and holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
