U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene, who serves Washington’s 1st district in Congress, posted a series of statements on her official social media account criticizing recent federal actions and the ongoing government shutdown.
On October 2, 2025, DelBene wrote: “BREAKING: Trump just canceled $1.1B for WA energy & manufacturing projects. Trump’s political retribution will cost jobs & raise energy bills for families in our state. I’ll fight to reverse this.”
The following day, she commented on the status of government operations, stating: “Republicans have been asleep at the wheel & led us into a government shutdown. Now the health care of millions is at risk.” This was followed by another post later that day regarding healthcare access: “Medicare Beneficiaries’ access to telehealth services have lapsed because of the Republican shutdown. If you’re unsure if an upcoming telehealth appointment will be covered, contact your health care provider to see what your options are.”
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District in Congress since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
