Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media criticizing recent actions by former President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans regarding labor rights, tax policy, and health care.

On July 18, 2025, DelBene wrote, “I stand with workers & unions. That’s why I support @RepGolden effort to force a vote to overturn Trump’s union-busting executive order that stripped collective bargaining rights from over 1 million federal employees.”

Later the same day, she continued her criticism of Republican policies: “Trump & Republicans are only focused on protecting the wealthy. In just the past few months, they:
Passed a massive tax break for the rich
Made it easier for wealthy tax cheats to not pay their fair share
Cut consumer protections around financial scams
Refused to”

On July 19, 2025, DelBene addressed recent changes to health care legislation: “Trump said he’d lower costs. He lied. Now Republicans are celebrating a law that rips away health care & jacks up prices to pay for tax handouts for the wealthiest.”

Suzan DelBene has served as a member of Congress since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
