U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene, who serves Washington’s 1st district in Congress, recently addressed several national issues through a series of posts on her social media account.
On November 20, 2025, DelBene criticized Senate Republicans for what she described as a misuse of taxpayer funds. In her post, she stated: “Senate Republicans recently created a cash-grab scheme so a few of them can line their pockets with your tax dollars. This is corruption in broad daylight, while everyday families struggle to make ends meet. I strongly oppose this & will vote to repeal it today.”
Later the same day, DelBene highlighted ongoing challenges faced by transgender individuals in the United States. She wrote: “Today, we recognize the violence & discrimination transgender people regularly face & remember those who have lost their lives. We must keep fighting for equality & speaking out against hate.” The statement coincided with annual observances that memorialize victims of anti-transgender violence.
In another post dated November 20, 2025, DelBene condemned threats directed at lawmakers and called for bipartisan action. She posted: “Political violence has no place in our country. Trump’s threats against Members of Congress are unacceptable & must stop. There needs to be a bipartisan rejection of this rhetoric that puts Americans at risk.”
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee and currently resides in Medina (source: FACTS FOR STEP 4). Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and now aged 61, DelBene graduated from Reed College and later earned an additional degree from the University of Washington.
