Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congress representative for Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has shared her perspectives on several pressing issues through a series of tweets. DelBene, who succeeded Jay Inslee in this role and resides in Medina, Washington, often addresses policy concerns affecting her constituents.

On May 7, 2025, Rep. Suzan DelBene commented on a new report from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. She stated that the findings clearly indicate that Republican-proposed Medicaid cuts would remove health care access for millions of Americans. DelBene emphasized her commitment to preventing families from losing their health coverage. “A new report from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office makes it clear that Republicans’ Medicaid cuts would take health care away from millions of Americans.”

Later on the same day, DelBene expressed gratitude towards public servants for their hard work and dedication during challenging times. Her appreciation was directed at those serving communities across various capacities.“Thank you to our dedicated public servants.”

In another tweet posted on May 8, 2025, she addressed the economic impact of tariffs imposed by former President Trump. According to DelBene, these tariffs are increasing costs for small businesses and limiting their international sales opportunities, which in turn leads to job reductions. She relayed concerns from a local manufacturer worried about being “tariffed out of business.” Additionally, she criticized congressional Republicans for not taking action to end what she describes as chaos.“Trump’s tariffs are raising costs for small businesses & limiting where they can sell abroad.”
