Rep. Suzan DelBene, who represents Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address concerns about tariffs affecting Washington’s economy and ongoing debates over health care policy.
On September 12, 2025, DelBene posted on X that she had “Met with the @PortofEverett to discuss how tariffs are hurting WA’s economy & turning cargo ships away from our ports. I’m going to keep fighting to protect WA’s ports, jobs, & economy.”
Later that day, she reported a visit to Overlake Medical Center with several political leaders: “At Overlake Medical Center, I was joined by @RepJeffries @GovBobFerguson @RepKimSchrier & other local leaders to call out Trump & Republicans for raising health care costs & cutting off coverage by letting ACA subsidies expire. We’re fighting to keep care affordable.” This message highlighted concerns about the potential expiration of Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies and its impact on health care affordability.
On September 13, DelBene reiterated her stance regarding national health policy changes: “President Trump & Republicans are attacking our health care system. @RepJeffries @GovBobFerguson @RepKimSchrier joined me in Bellevue to highlight what this means for families in WA & across the country.”
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
