Rep. Suzan DelBene, who has represented Washington’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress since 2012, recently posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing energy policy, election security, and healthcare legislation.

On August 16, 2025, DelBene wrote: “3 years ago, Democrats passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which cut energy bills, capped the price of insulin, & made health insurance more affordable.”

The following day, she highlighted the importance of hydropower to her home state: “Hydropower isn’t just electricity — it supports jobs, farms, & water security. In WA, hydropower supports communities across the state every day.” This statement underscores hydropower’s role in Washington’s economy and daily life.

On August 18, DelBene addressed election integrity and mail-in voting practices: “Mail-in ballots are secure & essential for military families, seniors, parents, & rural voters. For decades, Washington has run successful & secure vote-by-mail elections. Disgusting to see a President take election advice from Putin. Hands off our mail in ballots!”

Suzan DelBene was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and resides in Medina. She holds degrees from Reed College (1983) and the University of Washington (1990). DelBene succeeded Jay Inslee as representative for Washington’s 1st congressional district.
