Suzan DelBene, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Washington’s 1st district since 2012, has recently highlighted concerns on social media regarding the economic impact of ongoing conflict with Iran and federal funding cuts to child care centers.
On May 11, DelBene posted: “The war with Iran continues to raise fuel costs, making it more expensive for local business owners like Eric to transport their products.” The following day, she reiterated these concerns, stating: “BREAKING: Trump’s war with Iran is making life more expensive for Americans, driving up the price of gas, groceries, & other everyday goods.”
In addition to addressing the effects of international conflict on domestic costs, DelBene visited a Head Start classroom in Redmond on May 12. She shared her experience online: “Stopped by a Head Start classroom in Redmond to discuss how we can support child care centers amid cuts to federal funding. Wonderful to join story time with Ms. Leslie’s class!”
DelBene has served in Congress since succeeding Jay Inslee in 2012. Born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently residing in Medina, she holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
