U.S. Representative Suzan DelBene, who serves Washington’s 1st congressional district, posted a series of updates on social media this week highlighting local transportation milestones, community events, and cultural celebrations.
On September 14, DelBene noted a significant achievement in public transit: “The 2-Line made history this week as the world’s first light rail system to run on a floating bridge! On Tuesday, a train crossed the I-90 bridge using its own power — a huge step toward opening in early 2026.”
The following day, she addressed constituents planning international travel: ” Thinking about holiday travel? Make sure your passport is ready! If you live in WA-01, join us in Mill Creek on Oct. 16 for a passport application event. Register below to renew or apply for a passport at the event.” The message included information about an upcoming event to assist residents with passport applications.
On September 15, DelBene also recognized Hispanic Heritage Month: “Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! We’re honoring the history, culture, & traditions of Hispanic & Latino communities in Washington & across the country.”
Suzan DelBene has represented Washington’s 1st District in Congress since 2012 after succeeding Jay Inslee. She was born in Selma, Alabama in 1962 and currently resides in Medina. DelBene holds degrees from Reed College and the University of Washington.
